Flexitol Heel Balm is a moisturiser used to prevent and treat dry and cracked skin on your feet. Various factors can lead to dry skin on your feet including cold weather, medical conditions, nutrient deficiency (specifically potassium, fatty acids, and vitamins A, D, and E), wearing shoes that don’t fit, ageing, and bad luck with your genes.

Flexitol Heel Balm is especially useful for people with diabetes. This is because people with diabetes have to look after their feet carefully to avoid cuts or damage that can lead to infections. High blood sugar levels caused by poorly controlled diabetes can damage nerves in your feet (peripheral neuropathy), making them less able to feel pain, cold, and heat. As a result, foot problems can go unnoticed. People with diabetes are advised to manage dry and cracked skin carefully to stop complications and Flexitol Heel Balm is one of the ways to help this.

How do I use the medication?

You can apply a small amount of Flexitol Heel Balm to your feet once or twice a day or as directed by your doctor. Make sure you wash your hands well before and after use. If you have diabetes, it is best to use the medicine every day to prevent dry and cracked skin from occurring. People with diabetes should check their feet every day; using a daily moisturising product like Flexitol Heel Balm can help you remember to check your feet regularly.

How does it work?

The medicine contains a combination of ingredients that hydrate and protect the outermost layer of your skin. It acts as an exfoliator, removing dead and scaly skin leading to softer, smoother, and well-nourished skin that is better at providing a protective barrier.

Caidr pharmacist recommends

Who should not use the medication?

Do not use Flexitol Heel Balm if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. Children under twelve should not use the medicine. Speak with your doctor before using Flexitol Heel Balm if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Urea can increase the absorption of other creams and ointments into your skin. Speak with your pharmacist if you are using any other medicines on your feet.

Are there any side-effects?

Flexitol Heel Balm is unlikely to cause many side effects. Rarely, some people can experience blackening of treated areas of skin and allergic reactions such as blistering, skin rash, and skin peeling. Stop using the medicine and speak with your doctor if you are affected by any side effects.
