Abidec multivitamin is a supplement to ensure that your child gets all the essential vitamins they need to grow up strong and healthy. Often young children do not get the recommended nutritional amounts of many important vitamins from their diet alone, at a point in their life where it is most important.

Who is it for?

The UK Department of Health recommends all children aged 6 months to 5 years to receive supplements containing vitamins A, C and D, except those having more than 500ml of infant formula a day. This is because infant formula is fortified with vitamins A, C and D.

Abidec offers a suitable and safe supplement to ensure they are always getting enough of the most important vitamins. Supplements are recommended for children under the age of 5 because they do not get enough vitamins through their diet. Abidec is often used for children who are coeliac or have other malabsorption conditions, as these conditions increase the chance that a child is deficient in many of these vitamins.

What does it contain and how does it work?

Vitamins and minerals have many functions within the body. Vitamins A, C and B6 contribute to the normal function of the immune system, keeping the body equipped to deal with infections. Vitamin B1 helps with the functioning of blood cells and the nervous system. Vitamin D is helpful for the growth and development of strong bones in both adults and children. It also has an important role in the body’s immune system. Omega 3 & 6 have been shown to help with children’s brain function and to improve mood.

Should anybody not take it?

It may not be suitable if your child is already exceeding the recommended intake for any of the vitamins. This is particularly the case for children drinking more than 500ml of formula milk a day, as this is fortified with vitamins A, C and D.

Are there any side effects?

Generally, most children do not experience any side effects. However, if the child is having more than the recommended amounts they may start to experience adverse reactions, such as headaches, nausea and vomiting. Speak to your doctor to see if your child is experiencing some side effects after taking Abidec multivitamin.

Occasionally, children experience an allergic reaction to Abidec. If this is the case, get in contact with your local emergency services.
