Kelo-Cote Scar treatment with added SPF30 protection is an advanced formula, clinically proven silicone gel to help prevent and treat old and new hypertrophic and keloid scars resulting from general surgical procedures, c-section, trauma, wounds and burns.
Kelo-Cote helps to smooth, soften and flatten scars, reduce redness and discolouration and relieve the itching, pain and discomfort associated with scars. Kelo-Cote self-dries to form an invisible, breathable and waterproof flexible layer within minutes, providing 24-hour protection with just 2 applications a day.
How it works
Any break in the skin sends signals to your body to repair the injury. To heal the wound, the blood clots and specialised cells called fibroblasts are sent to the site to produce collagen and bind the skin back together. Sometimes the healing skin forms excessive, unorganised collagen bundles that push upwards and form a reddened, raised and hard scar.
KELO‐COTE® can help to minimise your scar’s appearance. KELO‐COTE®’s advanced Siliclear complex is a blend of silicones that cross‐link and bond to the outer layer of your skin, drying within minutes and providing up to 24 hours of protection and treatment.
The silicone layer also acts to create an optimal environment for your healing scar by regulating moisture levels and collagen production in the skin as well as forming a protective barrier against chemical, physical and microbial invasion of the scar site.
This flexible, breathable layer improves the physiological and cosmetic appearance of the scar, helping to give the scar a flatter, softer and less noticeable appearance.
How to use
For new scars start treatment as soon as the wound is closed or stitches removed. Ensure that the affected area is clean and dry.
Apply a very thin layer of KELO‐COTE® onto the scar twice a day, do not rub in.
Self-dries within 5 minutes* forming a flexible, waterproof, transparent layer - remove any excess product if it does not dry completely. Once dry, sunblock and cosmetics can be applied.
Recommended minimum treatment time is 60-90 days. If improvement still occurs after 90 days, continued use is recommended.
